I don’t watch the news very often, ok really at all, at least not by choice.
I have discovered recently, that this is a very good thing, as news reporters are dumb.
The other day I was in the locker room at the gym getting changed (hrmm..seems I talk a lot about the locker room recently. Maybe it would help more if I used the gym equipment and not just go hang out in the locker room.) and the news was on. I heard the news lady say “A teen was arrested. The mother had the money for bail and didn’t pay it. Is this bad parenting?” I’m like WTH! Why would you ever ask that?!?! It’s not like she’s the first parent to do so and hopefully parents don’t start thinking it’s bad to leave them in there because of trash like this. My brother got arrested and just left in jail. Kids need to learn a lesson and bailing them out doesn’t do it. I can’t believe that would be said.
And then the other night, we were watching tv and the show we were watching ended and before we turned the channel saw some of the news. It was talking about they were closing a couple of the lanes on the highway this weekend to fix pot holes. They had a guy bitching about the lanes being closed. I’m sure it’s one of the same people bitching there are pot holes too. At least they close it on the weekend when there’s less traffic that has to get to work and slowing down rush hour. Though it was amazing to see both days, the idiots that still tried to go that way and the traffic wayyy backed up. Saturday we’d gone out and knew to avoid that way of the highway and came back on the highway. Some people just aren’t happy unless they are bitching.

Amen and Heck yeah.. I am the mom that not only would not bail my kid out of jail but called the cops and put him in it. Then told the judge I would not be hiring him a lawyer no matter our financial status and would myself sit in jail first. Because he was a twit. I am the mean mom. If parents would actually parent, and parent by the gut, try to make their kids be the kind of adult neighbors you would want to live next door, instead of worrying about what precious snowflakes they are or how other people might judge their parenting it would be a better world. NOT every kid deserves a trophy or a medal. Not every kid should make the team, and not every kid should pass the grade in school. These are the things that make you understand you wont be a CEO if you suck and fail, and that your "entitled to anything" you earn it. I am sure the idiot on the news complaining about the road feels very entitled to all lanes being open with no pot holes.
ReplyDeleteHellz yeah. That and the news is depressing. I take it in spurts. Sometimes I'll watch it every night, then go months w/o looking at it. I cant remember who said it, or even where I heard it, but I can remember it. It says.. The evening news opens up wishing you a good evening, then proceeds to tell you why its not.

You know what? I don't watch the news either. Because of all the stuff you just mentioned. They are pretty dumb. :)
ReplyDeleteThe news is as depressing as it gets. However... if my kid got thrown into jail, I'd let him/her sit there and think about things at least overnight before posting bail and kicking his ass. Bad parent or not, the kid deserves it!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about letting kids suffer their punishments. I remember getting in trouble at school when I was younger and the first thing my mom said when I told her the school had punished me with a week of whatever punishment, her response was GOOD! So many parents like to believe their kids are NEVER at fault for ANYTHING and will go through ridiculous lengths to bail them out time after time.
